Together with the reference 5811/1G, Patek Philippe also presented the Nautilus Ref. 5990/1A-011, a new blue dial version of the timepiece originally introduced in 2014 with a black dial (you can read about it here).
The dial of the new model is enhanced by a radiant sunburst finish and a subtle black gradation to the periphery.
Three complications are conveniently arranged: a flyback chronograph, a Travel Time function (two time zones with two separate hour hands; the skeletonized hand shows home time) and an analog date which is synchronized with local time.
At 3 and 9 o’clock we find day and night indicators for local and home time respectively. Two are the subdials: a circular date scale at 12 o’clock and the chronograph 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock within which is placed the Patek Philippe logo. The gold hands and the applied hour markers are treated with luminescent coating.
The brushed and polished case has a diameter of 40.5 mm with a total thickness of 12.53 mm and is characterised by two chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock for the chronograph functions and two push correctors at 9 o’clock for aligning the local time hand, either forward or backward, in 1-hour increments.
Comprised of 370 parts and visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the self-winding caliber CH 28-520 C FUS movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of 45 hours to 55 hours.
The bracelet is fitted with a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp featuring a new lockable adjustment system which makes it possible to adjust its length by 2 or 4 mm for added wearing comfort.
The new Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5990/1A-011 has a suggested retail price of Euro 69,160. patek.com
