Differently from most GMT timepieces that display the second time zone using an additional hand, the new Montblanc 1858 GMT achieves the same result by using a small red square that moves around the outside of the dial.
This red indicator is positioned next to a fixed black or blue anodized aluminum bezel with a 24-hour scale that helps to read the home time at a glance. This original system also indicates the half-hour.
Protected by a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating and available in black or blue, the sunray dial of the 1858 GMT offers excellent legibility thanks to large hands and Arabic numerals/indexes, all enhanced by white Super-LumiNova that glows in blue in poor light.
The date aperture at 3 o’clock completes the ensemble.
The 1858 GMT comes in a 42 mm stainless steel case that offers water resistance up to a pressure of 10 ATM (approximately 100 metres / 330 feet).
An engraving on the titanium caseback shows the continents, oceans, and names of cities in each of the 24 time zones, offering a worldtime indication.
Beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), the self-winding movement has an autonomy of 50 hours.
The new Montblanc 1858 GMT can be matched to a rubber strap (ref. MB129766 in black or MB129617 in blue) or to a tapered interchangeable stainless steel bracelet with fine adjustment (ref. MB129615 in black or MB129616 in blue), with prices of CHF 3,320 or CHF 3,525, respectively.
