Panerai created two new Submersible references inspired by the Italian Forze Speciali (Special Forces), an elite military unit.
The Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition PAM01238 and Submersible Forze Speciali PAM01239 share the same key technical specifications while differing in their aesthetics.
Their 47 mm cases in DLC-coated titanium are fitted with unidirectional rotating ceramic bezels. The dials feature indexes composed of solid blocks of Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility in darkness.
The chronograph hour counter at 3 o’clock is visually balanced by the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. Chronograph seconds and minutes are indicated by two central hands.
The in-house P.9100/R movement has a three-day power reserve and include two complications: a flyback function that allows the chronograph to reset and restart with one press of the pusher at 8 o’clock and the Time to Target countdown, which indicates the time remaining until arrival at the target and, once it is reached, the time elapsed afterward.
To operate the countdown the watch’s wearer will repeatedly push the button at 4 o’clock to set the central chronograph hand at the desired interval; pressing the chronograph stop/ start button at 10 o’clock begins the countdown.
Distinguished by a green ceramic bezel, Panerai Experience engraving on its caseback and a rugged rubber camouflage strap, the Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition PAM01238 is available in a limited edition of only 50 pieces and associated to a unique experience. Each purchaser will be invited to Italy to join Italian Special Forces troops in a series of exercises, putting the watches through their paces in the process.
The Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali PAM01239, is limited in number, with only 300 available each year beginning in 2022. The black DLC-coated titanium case is paired with a blue ceramic bezel. On the caseback is an engraving of a Marina Militare frogman.
The new models come with a second strap in black Sportech with a Velcro closure as well as a tool to allow interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver for removing the buckle.
Water resistant to 30 bar (300 meters / 1,000 feet), the Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali Experience Edition PAM01238 and Submersible Forze Speciali PAM01239 have prices of Euro 55,000 and Euro 29.500, respectively. panerai.com
